We hold an online community meeting on the first Monday of every month, except on holidays when we delay a week. Our next meeting will occur on Monday December 1, 2025 6:30pm-8pm via Zoom.
The Gilman Square Neighborhood Council (GSNC) is an officially recognized neighborhood council within the City of Somerville, MA, and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The GSNC Board Elections are here! Every fall the GSNC holds elections for half of our board seats. From now until the end of November you can nominate yourself or someone else to join the board of the coolest neighborhood council in Gilman Square! Elections will take place in December, and elected members will begin a two-year term in January 2026.
Serving on the board is a great way to connect with neighbors, city councilors, elected officials, and city staff. And with a new mayor it’s an exciting time to get involved!
Board member duties include:
Supporting our community meeting held on the 1st Monday of each month at 6:30pm
Attending a monthly one-hour board meeting
Using your skills and passions to advance GSNC’s mission
Championing the community’s collective voice and ensuring it guides decision-making
Sign up now and encourage your friends! If you have questions, please email board@GilmanSquareNC.org. We’d love to hear from you!
What do we do?
The mission of the Gilman Square Neighborhood Council is to provide a forum for the people of Gilman Square to connect as a community, share neighborhood news, and advocate for our common values to make Gilman Square the best place in the world to live, work and play. Beyond our monthly community meeting, we regularly meet with city staff, negotiate community benefits agreements with private developers, and host the annual Gilman Square Arts and Music Festival!
How do I join?
The GSNC hosts monthly meetings and community forums that are open to all. However, voting is reserved for residents, property owners, business owners, employees, or volunteers operating within our boundaries of Oxford Street, Central Street, McGrath Highway, and Broadway. Somerville is lucky to have many engaged citizens and we are always open to new members!
